Depends Upon How You Look at It

Well, this is the first time I have posted here without a photo...unfortunately my camera is stuck at work, in my tote bag...but I am unexpectedly stuck at home.  So you can decide, if you believe in Luck: Am I really lucky or really unlucky?
I was in my classroom teaching yesterday when the sky fell. Yep, second grade teachers never get to sit down, but I leaned over my desk to jot down a quick note to self, when all of a sudden a 250 pound (more than twice my weight) TV monitor crashed from the ceiling...and hit me.

I am bruised, bloody, swollen, incredibly sore, and have a splitting headache. But no concussion and no broken bones. It missed my head by inches. I caught it on my neck, left arm and back. From the floor, I yelled to my students, "I'm okay!" so they wouldn't be traumatized...as much...but I was nauseated.

Fast forward to emergency crew, school lock-down, gurney, ambulance, x-rays, cat scan...and finally getting to come home to my puppy.

So, I am grateful beyond belief that a student wasn't hurt. I am grateful I don't have a fractured skull, spinal injuries, broken bones. I am shocked. I am sore. I am never boring. (!)

You never know, each and every day, if you will have the kind of day you thought you would. Say "I love you" to someone you love. I am reminded once again, to never sweat the small stuff.

Always,
Kath

Kathy, oh my gosh, I didn't even know what to think... first, I thought how lucky it did not hit you in the head... then, because it is my trade, I thought Worker's Comp, then that you could really have gotten hurt even killed by this event and now I think I can stop holding my breath and know that albeit bruised, bloody, sore and all the other stuff, you are alive.

My very best wishes for a total, speedy recovery... and a big fat check from the school system. What a great teacher to be thinking about your students as you lay on the floor.

Geez, that sounds awful! Wow! It could've been so much worse, yes, but still .... It's true, you never know when such freak accidents will happen, and we should be aware of this and appreciate what we have. Hope you're feeling better now!
