Happy Spooky Halloween!

So, remember when I hinted
that I don't really like to dress in costumes,
nor go to parties?
Well, when my daughter and son-in-law had a
Halloween costume party last Friday night, so
I decided if I had to do it, I'd do it BIG.
I'd do it so I was unrecognizeable!

Here is Michael's and my take on the spoof flik,
"Zombieland"!

Oh, and I can't watch horror movies either!

Happy haunting!

PS. We won first prize...and my own family didn't recognize me.
Maybe it was the good hair day?

Natural Instincts

This is a journal page from the other day.

I was in a very botanical mood
and then that went into a natural feeling
and that went to Natural Instincts
and then...
to realizing that I don't trust my own instincts...

(I am not good at first impressions:
making them or figuring out others')

and that led to refocusing myself, and
to trusting myself more,

and well, here's where I ended up!

I am somewhat of a wallflower.
(But you may have known that already).
Really.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
It's what comes most naturally.

Hope

Our small piece of Hurricane Sandy
almost like the peaceful eye of the treacherous storm now.

There is always hope.

Schools are closed today in western NY
(which rarely happens, even with waist-high snow)
and the rain & winds raged all night.

But even with it pouring rain right now, in these photos this morning,
the sun came out for a few minutes!
Unbelieveable...
reminding me of the miracles and of Hope.
Always.

I have power and I look at the TV news coverage
of the hurricane damage and fear and flooding
in NYC
and other east coast cities and towns and shorelines
and I send prayers.
Frightening powerful storms
need our extra prayers sent out.

Be safe.

These double-rainbow photos are untouched
as my computer goes slowly
and my photo editor won't work at all.

But I wanted to give you a double rainbow
in case you needed one today.

Love,
kath

Paper and Book and Journal Love

With the darker weather and rainy week coming,
I hope to 'nest' and read more.

•••
Do you have a great read to recommend?
What are your favorite books?
I'd love to share some more good ones.

Thank you so much for visiting and reading and leaving a comment.
You make my day.

And if you are along the route of Hurricane Sandy,
I send you caring thoughts, and prayers of strength and hope.
Take care and be safe.

Journaling

•••

Amidst tangled, zig zag thoughts
there is,
thankfully,
a straight line
that sends out softness to the
rough edges

Sending comfort • hope• peace• out into the universe
so there's more
if you need it
ever

Peace.

Looking Back...and Learning

Journaling... and an update.

When I walk to the end of my little road,
everything looks like golden autumn...
except for my neighbor's
magenta-lavender colored flowers blooming
gorgeously, like everything else she touches!

That's what inspired this: autumn with cooler pinks!

Background musical paper, stamping with
browns, greens and magenta-wines,
doodling with brown Sharpie Marker
...then my journal writing with my black Sharpie fine point pen.

Update:
I still have to go to physical therapy for another 4 weeks,
twice a week for unlocking of my spine
to relieve pressure and pain.
After a rather loud POP on Thursday,
I didn't have a headache on Friday or Saturday...
Thank you for asking and for thinking of me...♥

Listening to the Colors

I am blessed with the route I take to work.
More often than not, an amazing,
God-Painted-the-Sky
sunrise
is
blazing ahead of me as I drive.

Sure, it's way too early
and I'd rather be in bed
under the warm covers
but
then I would have missed the wonder
of mornings,
my
favorite part of the day
with the paint palette
of miracles.

And, oh, the sunsets
on
the
way home...!

Peace to you
and
happy Friday!

Something a Little Different

Taking a break from my Self,
...doing something different in my journal.

I had fun!
Hey, did you notice I even stuck with yellow,
my least favorite color to work with?!
This could mean something...

Have YOU ever tired of your Self, and gone on break?
Try something new and different!
Kick up your heels!

If you did, or if you do,
come back and tell me about it!
I'd love to hear!

I'm going to a Halloween costume party next week.
Normally, introverted me doesn't like to dress up
or go to a party.
But today, I started creating a costume that...
well, you may not recognize me...

more spooky stuff later...!

Thanks so much for visiting,

Pondering the Significance of Moments...

...a journal spread.

I think about how days go quickly
and that all of these fast days
are made up of moments

and I have always felt the need to feel them,
acknowledge them,
write them down,
honor them.

Whether they feel good or bad,
they are gifts.

~k

♥P.S. Thank you for your generous well wishes and kind comments.
Today marks 4 weeks since my accident
and I feel energetic again.
My headaches are less...
and I am hopeful and blessed.

While many moments have felt too long (!),
lately they are lighter!

one day at a time?

Autumn Winds Blow

~colors turn
leaves fall
winds blow

everything changes

~thoughts wander

do your beliefs change too
or
stay the same...?

I wanted to give you, my caring friends, a bit
of an update...
I got permission to try going back to work,
so I started again on Tuesday...
the new kid in class...
and I don't feel as good as I thought
I would
or could
or should...
but I am
grateful to have a choice
for now.

everything seems strangely different
and I am oh so stiff in my neck and back.

Looking forward to this 3-day weekend!

Always,
~k
