Tranquil Nights

One of my very favorite things to do, is to gaze up at the sky. I look forward to the full moon, but I love the crescent moon, too. When I was a little girl, I thought I could watch the sky and see angels.

Many years ago, I was gazing at the moon while standing at the very western most part of Portugal. I was sending thoughts to my father across the globe, wondering all the while if he was looking at the sky at the very same time I was.

Now I look at the stars, and the moon with it's brilliant glow, and think that even though I am so small in comparison, I can feel its great strength. When I stop the craziness for just a few moments, and just look at that enormous beautiful night sky, I feel safe and happy. Maybe I do see angels, and I know that my dad is watching.

This post brings a tear of joy to my eye... my grandfather (my mom's dad) passed away when I was only two years old... I remember him, but mostly just from pictures.

My mom has always told me that my grandpa was the man in the moon. Each time we have a full moon, or even when it's a last quarter moon and there is enough of him to see, I can feel him up there, and I know he's watching with smile.

Not everyone can see the man in the moon, just like not everyone see's angels when they look up in the sky... those of us who can though, are blessed to have such souls watching over us.

This is making me weepy.
I feel the very same way when I look out at the ocean.
I feel my brother near me.
