Planting

Okay, so clearly Michael did the planting and potting
and I held a camera...

 Sweet Ellie always helps.

Wishing you sunshine and flowers...and if you are on
the opposite side of this big world, having winter,
this is for you!

Sunny Summertime Memories

When you close your eyes and go back...
way back...
to a summertime memory,
where does it take you?

Do it.
Does it make you smile?

I hope so...!

Aah, today is a hot, lazy day
and I also remember
that all winter long,
I waited for this.

Sun on skin.
It's the best.

Just Me again...

A wise man once said
(it was our interim superintendent,
as he was leaving last week),

"Health is all that really matters.
The rest will come."

It has stuck in my head.

But later that evening, a close friend,
who was also a priest,
told me to send it out into the Universe
if I want it.

So I did
...in my journal.

But I know too, that my prayers get answered

all the time.

Peace.

Journaling...

Perhaps the birds in my yard
are the ones reminding me
to just Be.

I forgot how.

But today's a new day.

Summer of Color 2: Ice Cream Inspirations

This was inspired by "Baseball Nut" ice cream
with raspberry swirl, vanilla & cashews!
I celebrate that with bare feet,
sunshine and flowers!

Thank you, Kristin

Beauty in This Day

 Inside, looking out

Taking that Teal step...outside

(see, I told you I really got this color!)

All my life I wanted a deck, a patio, or a porch.
I will spend my summer here
at last
and I am filled with overwhelming gratitude
to be feeling some health again
with time to Be.

I shall not take a warm moment for granted.

I love being quietly at home
with my camera,
a good book,
my notebook,
and my favorite Sharpie pens.

Sending love,

Summer of Color 2: Mint Chip!

The 2011-2012 school year is finished,
and I think this journal spread is, too.

This was inspired by Kristin's "Summer of Color 2"
Ice Cream Inspiration:
Mint Chocolate Chip!

And I would be remiss if I didn't toss in my husband's
new used truck acquisition
because I forever tease him and
say it's the Mint Ice Cream Truck!

Have a fun weekend, friends!

Thursday, June 21, 2012

oh, it's just me...

...sayin' hi.

I've been missing you.
It is June and I have been running on empty.

It's almost done, just tomorrow (Friday) to go.
The children are gone for the summer
and it's just me...
...and a thousand piles of paperwork.

And miles to go before I sleep, but...

...when I walk out of the building tomorrow evening,
I will have completed a year
that was hard.

I seriously LOVE this photograph,
not only because it's beautiful,
but because it perfectly portrays how I am feeling
at this moment.
It is summery hot and sunny out and
I can feel peace knocking...
but I am fatigued.

Forgive me for posting before this is written and completed
but I am finding it to be a perfect resting spot

and I didn't think you'd mind.
You are so nice to me, afterall!

Love, ~k

On Work and Family

My family has been a away for a little bit
...and due home in minutes.
Looking forward to our Father's Day little get-together'
on the porch and in the yard
on this sunny, warm afternoon.

...appreciating the little things, and them.

Wishing you a peaceful,
family-type
of day.

Love,

Farmer's Market

Even though it's Saturday, I got up and out
(right after my coffee)
this morning
to go to the Farmer's Market
for the first time this season!

Hurrah for summer officially beginning this week!

My daughter, Mia, is happy, she was just squinting!

Alpacas!

How cute are alpacas?

What a joy to see flowers again...

We bought strawberries, butterfly flowers,
breakfast (!), and
local fresh meat.

Next week marks my last week of teaching
before summer vacation.
And the countdown begins...

Have a happy weekend, friends!
Thank you so very much for visiting!

Walking in a Slightly Different Way Today

Work is not easy; that's why it's called Work.

Today, however, was different
than all of the other days.

And after many months
of dealing with
a narrow-minded person,
Today,
yes, today,
that person apologized.

"I accept your apology."

It feels good.
It feels right.

Turns out we both did something
different today.
I took a step forward to break my silence;
she took a step back and said she was sorry.

It's a good crack in the pavement.
I'm ready to march on
and cross the finish line in nine days.

Summer of Color 2 and the Allentown Art Festival

Every June I go to the Allentown Art Festival,
 in Buffalo, NY.
It's a great Time-Out and Day-cation for me,
because the month of June, for a teacher, is a bit crazy...
This spread in my journal
is the happy summer feeling I get
when I go there
and just wander through streets
of
ART!

This first week is Rainbow Sherbet
with bright raspberry and orange colors, so...
I couldn't resist the fun festival flavors of art and summer
in my journal today!

Allentown Art Festival

Have a great new week!

Our School's Art Show

Our school's annual ART Show was in May.
I love what the art teachers and children do!

I love the 5th graders' Tomb Art.

Walk down the halls...

First graders' clay models!

Looks like summer's coming...!

Thanks for touring with me.
Childrens' art cheers one up, hmm?!

Enjoy your evening.
Did you catch the Venus Transit?
