Making it Happen :: Art Journaling

I have spent much of the past week completely alone.
After 10 months of constant
talking and listening and doing, doing, doing,
it has been a big change.
This alone and mostly silent time
has been spent decompressing and reading,
thinking,
breathing,
praying,
meditating,
walking, thinking about my life
and my place in this big world.

Yes, I am an introvert who re-energizes with quiet time.
Could you tell?!

But this is more than that.
This is a monumental leap for me.

More later.
Just be now, though.

 Feel the unending Summer
and lose the urge to keep count of dates and deadlines.

These will be the days without number.

In friendship,

Following Freely :: Art Journaling

When suddenly set free,
it does take a little bit of time
to rediscover yourself...

 ...to let go...

...to let your creativity flow...
and follow your Art.

I've been getting reacquainted with
peace, quiet, stillness, freedom from intensely impossible deadlines
and mounds of paperwork.

At first, I felt like I couldn't be creative.
My monkey mind wouldn't stop shouting!

Then, I made a promise to myself:
choose to be happy again and Let Go.

And I picked up the novel I had started a ways back:
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye.

And my mind relaxed. And my racing body was still, and open.
And I imagined a road, a peaceful road.

I followed my art.
it led me to this.
and I like it.
::::

I am in a better place.
It reminds me of Winnie the Pooh,
and his Thoughtful Spot.

Where is your peace?
Where do you find your Thoughtful Spot?
What leads you to relaxation again?
I'd love to know.

Always,
~k

 It is officially summer...
and I am officially on VACATION!

I am still planning a trip or two
and one of them will be to a favorite city!

...And, I need to be near water.

Have a happy day!

Let Me Breathe

So sorry I haven't been around all week.
With all of the new rules and blame on teachers,
I have had nothing but paperwork and assessments...

So, after another 10-hour day,
I came home, TGIF,
and finally took a ten minute break to
to let some creativity OUT.

CREATE.
LOVE.

Make art.

I plan on using this sketch,
finishing this sketch, journaling with this sketch...
but
for now,
I wanted to let you know that I am
trying my best
and feeling like any day now
I WILL be shot out of the cannon.

I love my students
but
the paperwork and testing is abominable.

Love Enough

This new spread began as pastels blended
from the colors of a beautiful sunrise...

...But then I saw a face emerge from the page.
I'd been wanting to draw a face for a while now
and it finally found me.

And with the many tangled but ultimately loving thoughts
spiraling and swirling through my confused and tired brain,
the hair could only be this, stamped...

Then, colored pencils in lovely warm shades...because.

Peace & Love to each of you and to all of you.

I have two weeks left of school teaching...
Summer begins, officially, soon.

Any plans for you?

Take care,
~k

Sky Beauty :: Journaling

 Pastel Background,
photo of a beautiful sunrise last week,
fabric ribbon, washi tape, stamping.

Collage...right page unfinished.

I've always been a sky watcher.
It's so inspiring, every day...

What a way to begin a new work week,
with a spectacular sunrise like this!

Peace,

Not really sure if this page
is done...might add more layers...paint on top...

What about you? How are you all doing?

I Thank you for stopping by,
for sharing,
for wanting to maybe read some
 of my thoughts down here...
and
for commenting.
It really makes my day!

Here's to a wonderful weekend!!

Love,
