Journal Page

I am a bit miserable today as I am home from work, sick.
Tomorrow should be better-
and I am correcting papers as I sit around,
but I'd rather be energetic and rosy, you know?

On the bright side,
it is uncharacteristically warm out
and so
the windows are open!
Germs, be gone!

Watercolor Learning

I have wanted, for the longest time, to learn how to paint with watercolors. I finally took the scary-for-me leap. I bought a really inexpensive set, a couple of brushes, and now a course!

I have only begun to practice with supplies, but have learned a bit about what I don't like, for instance, this paper, with or without gesso. I won't experiment in this journal anymore, but will use the watercolor paper pad that I got for my birthday. I also learned that I think I will like watercolor painting and it may not be as scary as I thought...maybe.

Thanks for visiting and putting up with my frightening experiments. I love your comments.  ~k

Maybe my Saturdays will turn into sketching days.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend
and maybe getting a glimpse of the Full Moon.

Turn your clocks ahead an hour tonight!

My Finished Drawing

I put the finished sketch into Picnik to take out the color.

Here's what it really looks like, in my journal.

Thank you for visiting!

Sketched Again

I used to draw and sketch every single day
when I was really young...for hours.
I haven't done much in years.
Sometimes I think about it.
Lately I've thought about it more.
Then, this morning, still in my jammies, I picked up my journal
and a pencil and just started.

I had seen a face in a fashion magazine a while back.
It was angular and very striking.
She had dark eyes and dark, really tousled, short hair.
I loved the photograph.

I don't like that I spontaneously
did a face on this particular painted background, but...so be it.

It feels fun. Again.
Maybe I will add more pencil strokes later today
...when I get out of my pj's.

Have a lovely, lazy Saturday!
