Leaves, Colors, Children & Journals

Last weekend, when it was so nice outside
I sprayed inks with my journal in the grass.

Actually, now my sidewalk is kind of colorful.

Listening to the autumn leaves...
...
How was your week?
I had my school's Open House on Thursday Night,
so it's been a full and busy week,
but good.

The anxiety I always feel inside of myself
around a lot of adults (not children!) is
different these days, so I hope I am learning and growing.

I really try hard to keep the peace within me
and
breathe.

I accept that I am shy and introverted
as I open my room and meet lots of parents .
...
I did a spontaneous writing activity
with my 2nd graders this week,
journaling about their imaginative play...
It warms my soul to know that children
still pretend with stuffed animals
and don't just play video games.

My students were so excited.
They thought, wrote, shared.
It makes me remember why I am a teacher.

Have a super weekend,
~k

Art Journaling

Releasing thoughts...

experimenting with art supplies...

and just trying new things...

in my art journal.

Feels good.
Really good.

My Texture Walk...and Journal

Yesterday evening, I took a "Texture Walk"
around my yard

It then turned into a "Color Walk"
because I have surprise orange poppies this year
...aaah....love....

Then, it led to this journal page.

Here are some details.
Thank you for looking and
for sharing in my texture walk of color!

What inspires you most in nature?

Following Freely :: Art Journaling

When suddenly set free,
it does take a little bit of time
to rediscover yourself...

 ...to let go...

...to let your creativity flow...
and follow your Art.

I've been getting reacquainted with
peace, quiet, stillness, freedom from intensely impossible deadlines
and mounds of paperwork.

At first, I felt like I couldn't be creative.
My monkey mind wouldn't stop shouting!

Then, I made a promise to myself:
choose to be happy again and Let Go.

And I picked up the novel I had started a ways back:
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye.

And my mind relaxed. And my racing body was still, and open.
And I imagined a road, a peaceful road.

I followed my art.
it led me to this.
and I like it.
::::

I am in a better place.
It reminds me of Winnie the Pooh,
and his Thoughtful Spot.

Where is your peace?
Where do you find your Thoughtful Spot?
What leads you to relaxation again?
I'd love to know.

Always,
~k

I am still planning a trip or two
and one of them will be to a favorite city!

...And, I need to be near water.
