Journaling :: I Feel

I feel...

...the awesome power
and beauty of Autumn.

...and I am grateful for
the colors of the falling leaves
the warmth of the sun on my face
and the skies that we all share.

So, if you don't get the change of season
to autumn with its colors now,
this is for you!
Thank you for visiting!

Happy It's Friday!

Still working late but trying to take
 peaceful moments to sit quietly
and even do a little bit of layered play in my journal.
I just love to do this...

And though I am putting in the long
September teacher-hours,
I am so much more at ease than last year.

And the sunrises lately! Wow!
Autumn is truly coming in with all it's glory.
Yesterday the blue sky had streaks of pale pink,
then was brushed with swishes of wispy white.

This morning, fog filtered and muted the yellow
and grays of the early morning.

Happy Friday, friends!
Do something you love,
find beauty around you,
and smile.

with love,
~k

Leaves, Colors, Children & Journals

Last weekend, when it was so nice outside
I sprayed inks with my journal in the grass.

Actually, now my sidewalk is kind of colorful.

Listening to the autumn leaves...
...
How was your week?
I had my school's Open House on Thursday Night,
so it's been a full and busy week,
but good.

The anxiety I always feel inside of myself
around a lot of adults (not children!) is
different these days, so I hope I am learning and growing.

I really try hard to keep the peace within me
and
breathe.

I accept that I am shy and introverted
as I open my room and meet lots of parents .
...
I did a spontaneous writing activity
with my 2nd graders this week,
journaling about their imaginative play...
It warms my soul to know that children
still pretend with stuffed animals
and don't just play video games.

My students were so excited.
They thought, wrote, shared.
It makes me remember why I am a teacher.

Have a super weekend,
~k

Autumn's Coming

Some collage and journaling...
I know I haven't been around quite as much.
I think I am still trying to adjust to my new schedule.
Back to school and I'm exhausted!

It disappoints me that I am so lacking in energy
when I get home
but I am trying to be kind to myself,
and roll with it.
So, I do bits and pieces of an art journal page...
whenever I can. Inch by inch, you know?!

Hydrangeas still amaze me.
They look gorgeous no matter the season,
changing colors
and demonstrating perseverance.
LOVE them.

Full moon's a comin' too!

Wishing you beauty in your days,

~k

So, yeah...

Lots of thoughts
lots of layers
two or three days or so
of paint and handmade stamps
and such

Sorting out some of the layers in my mind and in my heart

But then there is the peace from nature~
beautiful, beautiful hydrangeas
always in layers of color and blossom...
no matter the season

and I keep learning
'cause that's really what I like

and I am so grateful
even for the stuff that I thought was impossible.

I see that now.

Unfolding :: journaling

The first week of a new school year is over.
We have been getting to know one another,
learning about rules of respect
and what we like,
even diving into math and assessing reading levels...

...and it was good.

I feel differently.
This year already has the unfolding of light in it.

And I am different.

Being in the present
has a real meaning for me.

I am finding my truth
in being in the present.

It brings with it
gratitude
in what is,

instead of anxiety of what might come next.

September

Gesso and acrylic paints, washi tape, ink stamping.

Thank you so much for your friendly well-wishes
as I go back to my classroom!
It was a good first day of second grade today.

I am tired, though.
So above is a background,
waiting for rested thoughts.

Below is a thank you gift for you!
I love these cone flowers and hope you do too!

in my journal

...and softly, August faded
 and September crept in...

...and I am in my classroom tomorrow (Tuesday)
with a brand new group of second grade children.

Prayers, positive thoughts: these are in my head
and in my heart as I go forward
once again.

It was a beautiful, full summer.
I am filled with gratitude.

Peace to you this September!
