Following Freely :: Art Journaling

When suddenly set free,
it does take a little bit of time
to rediscover yourself...

 ...to let go...

...to let your creativity flow...
and follow your Art.

I've been getting reacquainted with
peace, quiet, stillness, freedom from intensely impossible deadlines
and mounds of paperwork.

At first, I felt like I couldn't be creative.
My monkey mind wouldn't stop shouting!

Then, I made a promise to myself:
choose to be happy again and Let Go.

And I picked up the novel I had started a ways back:
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye.

And my mind relaxed. And my racing body was still, and open.
And I imagined a road, a peaceful road.

I followed my art.
it led me to this.
and I like it.
::::

I am in a better place.
It reminds me of Winnie the Pooh,
and his Thoughtful Spot.

Where is your peace?
Where do you find your Thoughtful Spot?
What leads you to relaxation again?
I'd love to know.

Always,
~k

I am in need of finding my happy place, with all the chaos going on around here, but I know that it will come to an end soon(er or later) and I will be able to find my peace again.

I've been trying to put together the words lately, on how much this experience has made me realize what we take for granted each and every day... simply having unlimited amounts of fresh drinkable water, let alone the conveniences of hot showers and clean clothes, etc etc... this remodel has been eye opening for me. Not that I didn't know it was going to be a challenge to live without water for a while, but I've lately become so much more aware of how much we take all these things for granted.

It leaves me thankful. Very gracious of how we live and the luxuries we have. And it hasn't killed me, so I guess that means it's making me stronger. :)

Happy Summer Kathy! I am excited to see all the delightful art that comes from your beautiful soul this summer.

Thank you very much Kathy for reminding me of how important peace and relaxation is. I will need it for a while and it had gotten lost. Your insight and art are beautiful my friend. Bless you dear...

I think we must have been on parallel paths to finding peace. So happy to hear that you have found your thoughtful spot as I do think it's key to creativity....

Of course, God's Word always helps me find my way back and the ocean is the most thoughtful spot on this earth for me....It settles my spirit right down...

I've missed you and so good to connect again....

What a beautiful journal spread and blog post. Your words are so true and we do need to take the time to find our quiet place. I, too, find that setting aside time to read my Bible and meditate helps me to face the day and its challenges.

Thank you for visiting my blog!!!

Oh, I want to walk down that path and ponder, stopping to look at a passing beetle, lifting my face to the sun.
It takes a while to wind down after a busy year. Give yourself time to recharge, to be refreshed, and enjoy the summer freedom.

Beautiful page - very delicate drawing and wonderful words. I love the subtlety of your colours and those blooms are beautiful - quite an unusual colouring on them.

What leads me to that happy spot is a LOT of stream of conscious writing (a la Artist's Way). If I can write several pages to get out all the monkey mind crap, I start to come in a place of creativity. THen I just pick up a brush and go - no thinking, just intuitively painting. Love your page and the flower pic!

This was beautiful, the words and painting. What a peaceful place this to visit. I need my quite spot too, many walks around my backyard and walking at the track is where I find it. Love being outdoors and being inspired after a good walk.
Thanks so much for this!
