Doubt vs Trust

I tend to doubt myself a lot. I keep having to relearn Trust and trusting my own heart.

    No regrets, just learning experiences.

                    Trust your heart.

                            Love,
                                K

Mixed media collage, in my art journal.

Summer of Color 5: Week Six

1 orange + 1 orange + 1 blue
This was a challenge because orange is not a fave color to work with, but it's good to stretch ones' self!

Thank you for summer fun and for visiting my little corner!

Yours in this and in art journaling,
Kathy

Fly :: journaling

 Live

 Now.

 Fly.

Stand upon a springboard of love,
kindness, and respect...then leap. or fly.

Journaling felt really good today.
I needed it.
Art heals.

Gusts of Wind :: Journaling

Pastel washes, ink stamping,
white paint marker writing...
thoughts swirling...

like leaves circling in another gust of wind.

Art Journal Spread. April 2014

Just me, finding a way to make April 28th
not such a painfully hard day.

But hey, some days and some memories
are like that.

And that's okay.

In and Out

In my head and in my heart (above).
...

Out my window:

The howling winds and the hail
are what actually woke me up this morning!
Hail on snow, on ice, on frozen mud
in spring.

Hahaha, real funny.

{I think I hear Christmas music again.}

Happy Saturday anyway!!!

C'mon Spring!

Feeling the crunch of coldness
and eagerly awaiting warmth.

Daylight savings time is great in the evening
but in the mornings again, ack!

Okay, I need sun on my skin.
I need to feel not cold.
I'm sick of snow.
Get it?

14 inches of snow fell last Wednesday.
Just sayin'

Happy St. Patrick's Day
to those who celebrate it!

Talkin' to myself...daydreaming

As an introvert,
I think I had a very vivid imagination
as a child.

As an elementary teacher,
sometimes I find that children
don't use their imaginations
so much.

I try to encourage it...

Finding Beauty :: Journaling

Well, after all of the snowstorms already,
the weather turned warm...
it rained...
then it froze,
and it iced.
Everything.

Branches are heavy.
Treetops are bending.
The power went off during the night.

It's back on and everyone is safe.

And it is incredibly beautiful,
this frozen, sparkling world.
...
Winter Solstice wishes of peace to you,

Simplicity :: mornings

What about you?
Are you a morning person, too,
or a night owl?

I wanted to capture the simple,
morning mood I often feel.

I have a steamy mug of hot coffee,
the Avett Brothers on the car radio,
and the promise of yet another new day.
Bliss.

With much love,
~k

Embracing This Life

Some moments of clarity
find me
and it's wonderful.

This journal page done with pastels
and a collaged image.

it's just me knocking...

Usually, I'm very decisive...
This one time, however,
I find myself just in the doorway.

Pastel Play :: journaling

Easing back in...
Attempting to not have every moment filled...

I saw the very first snowflakes of the season
yesterday
as I drove home from work at dusk.

And then the sun shone...

I love pastels.

Thank you for waiting for me.

Summer of Color :: Week #5!

This week's colors:
Candy Apple Red and Yellow!

My head is filled with poppies blooming in the sunshine.

Here, they look a bit off-color...hmmmm...
what's up with looking chartreuse and orange??

But, on the bright side, I managed to fix our computer !

Technology may not be my middle name,
but the other night, I rocked it.

Following Freely :: Art Journaling

When suddenly set free,
it does take a little bit of time
to rediscover yourself...

 ...to let go...

...to let your creativity flow...
and follow your Art.

I've been getting reacquainted with
peace, quiet, stillness, freedom from intensely impossible deadlines
and mounds of paperwork.

At first, I felt like I couldn't be creative.
My monkey mind wouldn't stop shouting!

Then, I made a promise to myself:
choose to be happy again and Let Go.

And I picked up the novel I had started a ways back:
The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye.

And my mind relaxed. And my racing body was still, and open.
And I imagined a road, a peaceful road.

I followed my art.
it led me to this.
and I like it.
::::

I am in a better place.
It reminds me of Winnie the Pooh,
and his Thoughtful Spot.

Where is your peace?
Where do you find your Thoughtful Spot?
What leads you to relaxation again?
I'd love to know.

Always,
~k

Love Enough

This new spread began as pastels blended
from the colors of a beautiful sunrise...

...But then I saw a face emerge from the page.
I'd been wanting to draw a face for a while now
and it finally found me.

And with the many tangled but ultimately loving thoughts
spiraling and swirling through my confused and tired brain,
the hair could only be this, stamped...

Then, colored pencils in lovely warm shades...because.

Peace & Love to each of you and to all of you.

I have two weeks left of school teaching...
Summer begins, officially, soon.

Any plans for you?

Take care,
~k

Sky Beauty :: Journaling

 Pastel Background,
photo of a beautiful sunrise last week,
fabric ribbon, washi tape, stamping.

Collage...right page unfinished.

I've always been a sky watcher.
It's so inspiring, every day...

What a way to begin a new work week,
with a spectacular sunrise like this!

Peace,
~k

It Just Happens...

Not really sure if this page
is done...might add more layers...paint on top...

What about you? How are you all doing?

I Thank you for stopping by,
for sharing,
for wanting to maybe read some
 of my thoughts down here...
and
for commenting.
It really makes my day!

Just me...Journaling

sometimes I think about Spring
beginning new and fresh every year
and a teacher's school year
and a new class every year
beginning
ending.
Life
beginning
ending
and how I am just passing through.
beginnings and
endings.
ends and new beginnings.

those soft white petals
blow away in the wind.

there are things I can't hold onto
because I just shouldn't.

Journaling and My Little Friend

Pastel background, and writing IT ALL OUT. Release.

And this is my Ellie. Love. I LOVE my Ellie.

Have I told you lately,
how much I LOVE my Ellie?
Unconditional love,
cuddling,
hiking,
and devotion.

'Haven't been around as much this past week,
but I thought of you.

I am off to the Farmer's Market for a little while,
for the new season,
to unwind
after a too-busy, too-crazy
week
that has left me exhausted.
