Snowing Like Mad Out...but Quiet Inside

I feel so blessed to be enjoying...moments...and
    very loving ones at that.

     Staying warm,
     creating, playing,
     reading...feeling grateful,
     sending love.

Spirit

Taking some time to nourish my Self.

I have found that I love drawing faces again.
I want to learn and practice and keep trying.
I want to get better with drawing eyes, lips, noses.
I want to learn more about light source and shading.

What do you do to take care of your Self?

Happy Monday. Have a great new week!

Faces

I love drawing.
With the threat of a new lake effect snow,
I came home from work at a very reasonable time...
and played in my art journal!
Happiness...

    Thanks for visiting!

Sketching

...in my art journal.

I've been anticipating this downtime between Christmas and New Year's when I could fully relax and create again.

I actually have been dreaming of drawing faces...

Peace to you,

Thinking, Sketching, Journaling

After another long workday,
I came home to an empty house,
relished in the silence,
and sat with my pencils and journal.

My thoughts are peaceful
again.

March? Really?

Honestly, it was a crazy week.
And, I really have a lot of housework
to catch up on
because I just wasn't home...!

..but I feel such an overwhelming
thankfulness
that my Self
is different than the chaos
on this earth.

...journal spread in progress...

There was a lot of wonderfulness
in this crazy week,
but this girl is exhausted!

I plan on housecleaning,
power walking,
reading,
grading papers,
eating lots of fruit,
art journaling (!),
and cuddling Andi
and my little dog, Ellie!

What are your plans for this weekend?!

Just Do It.

Some decisions in life are difficult
so I am remembering
to take my own
advice:

Don't stumble on rocks that are behind you.

Ask for true guidance.
Take the leap of faith.

Trust.

Then, don't look back.

 ...

The temperature is 6 degrees F
and dropping.

No, I don't want to go outside!
I am going to snuggle under a blanket,
watch the hockey game on TV,
and read.

(No new baby yet!)

Sketching Faces

...in my journal.

Pencil sketch on decorative papers...in my journal. Unfinished page...

One thing I really want to do more of in 2014 is draw.
Inspired always by Julie Balzer's faces,
I want to sketch and practice painting portraits.

Not exactly a Resolution,
but a fun promise to myself
to do more of what I love.

Still awaiting the arrival of a new baby
in the family...perhaps for New Year's Eve?!
...

Don't you just LOVE the days between
Christmas and New Year's?
I feel relaxed and happy
to have free time.

Hope you do, too.

A Sketch...and Summer of Color3 Week #4!

Kristin's Summer of Color SOC3 is already into week #4!

This week's color combination is
Charcoal Gray and Pink.

I have been wanting to practice drawing, drawing, drawing
and sketching faces.
Here, I wanted to try my hand at sketching a face at an angle,
for interest and a change.

I took a piece of pretty pink background paper, and my pencils...
and here is what's going on so far.

I say "so far" because I may do more with it,
such as glue it in my art journal... write on it,
add to itYou know...

Have a creative day!

Exploring Color in Faces

...in my journal.

I don't love it,
but I do love adding colors when shading faces.
I want to keep practicing faces...

Thanks for visiting!

I want to keep painting skies, too!
