My First Carving!

I am super excited! I've wanted to design and carve a stamp for quite a while, but needed the courage and expert tutorial from lori at elvie studio (side bar) to get going!

It all started with my neighbor Mary's, garden. She had pink pom-pom poppies that I loved, but then...I discovered their pods...and loved them even more (she thought I was weird).
But aren't they just so cute? And green? And bursting with hope and promise?

LOVE them! Then I ordered materials and made a pencil sketch:

And took a deep breath and carved...!

I had to stamp it on paper to see what needed to be cut deeper.

But I am pleased as...pods!

This is so cool!!!
I did this in high school. Then in my twenties I bought carving supplies and made Christmas cards... For a year or so I have wanted to do something like this again but I just have not gotten around to it. You have me feeling inspired!

This is gorgeous!!!! Much better than my attempt at stamps over the weekend. I will have to try that carving block. I love how you found a piece of natural beauty and transformed it into a beautiful stamp. Well done!!!
